v0.3 - Improved movement & audio


In lieu of the feedback recently received for the project, we've made a couple changes:

  • There is now a small period of time when walking off of a platform where you can still do a normal jump, followed by a double jump.
  • The rate at which the player slows down and changes direction has been increased
  • There is now a natural Mouse+Keyboard control scheme.

In addition to those QoL changes, we've made quite a few improvements in regards to the audio in the game:

  • Added SFX for throwing the lantern
  • Added SFX for picking up petrified spirits
  • Added new background ambience
  • Updated SFX for the lantern breaking
  • Updated SFX for the lantern hitting walls
  • Updated SFX for jumps
  • Updated SFX for buttons
  • Updated SFX for fire
  • Some audio will now pan/spatially blend based on where they are relative to the player
  • Reworked the balance and mixing for most of the sound effects and music

Additionally:

  • Fixed a bug where the lantern will tend to remain on the left side of the player
  • Fixed some issues where the lantern would stutter when following the player
